Treasured memories
We are often approached by visitors wishing to plant a tree or place a bench in the Garden, and we are very happy to help make this happen. Trees and benches can represent a lasting memorial to a loved one, celebrate a special occasion or commemorate a special event.
Each option detailed bellow has been carefully selected with environmental, aesthetic, and historical considerations in mind.
Trees
We are home to a variety of interesting trees, but due to age and disease, we regularly plant replacements. Planting and sponsoring a tree in its early life is a wonderful way to invest in the future and allow others to enjoy your contribution.
For a minimum donation of £500 our Garden team will source young trees to be planted between October and March to ensure good rooting. Your sponsorship will last ten years and will include a tree planting ceremony and a small plaque.
If you wish to go ahead with your sponsorship, we are happy to provide a list of trees identified as appropriate for the Garden.
Premium Benches
A bench is a perfect memorial if you’re looking to remember, celebrate or commemorate. As there are only a limited number of locations available in the historical heart of the Garden for benches, we work in partnership with renowned craftsman Andrew Crace who creates beautiful pieces of garden furniture made of Iroko or Oak that are built to last and are in keeping with the style of the Garden.
Prices for a premium bench start at £1,900 and have a lead-in time of four – five months. Your sponsorship will last the lifespan of the bench and can include an optional engraving and a year’s family membership to the Garden.
If you wish to go ahead with your sponsorship, we are happy to provide a list of bench styles (with photos) that are appropriate for the Garden.
Rustic Benches
There is also an option to sponsor a more rustic style of bench in the woodland areas of the Garden.
These benches are often made with timber from the Garden, and although they naturally have a shorter life than our Premium Benches, they are well loved by visitors who explore the further reaches of the Garden and need a spot to rest.
For a minimum donation of £500, your sponsorship will last the lifespan of the bench and includes a small plaque.
