With ice cream a tried-and tested best-seller in our Shop and with the summer not far off, we thought it might be time to see if we could create our own special frozen delight to add to our high quality own-brand range.
And so we have taken delivery of our first batch of delicious ice cream, expertly made by hand just two miles away from the Garden by Yoke House Dairy.
Flavoured with freshly-harvested rhubarb from our Kitchen Garden, this is the first in what we hope will be a series of special limited-edition ice creams to be produced over the season.
Sophie and Mark from Yoke House are based just across the valley from the Garden on the other side of Painswick village and supply a number of local outlets with their delicious range of flavours. Yoke House pride themselves on using ingredients which are produced on organic principles where possible, including milk from Jess’s Ladies and cream and eggs from Stroud Microdairy. Our rhubarb is also grown in a traditional way without the use of chemicals in the centre of the historic Kitchen Garden.
Assuming this first batch is a success, we hope to try further flavours over the summer using our home-grown produce, including mint, soft fruit and honey.
This new product follows hot on the heels of the success of the Garden’s special limited edition Red House Amber Ale which went on sale recently and sold out completely within weeks. Available in 140ml pots, the rhubarb ice cream joins the growing home-grown range of Garden products which currently includes apple juice, chutney, jam and honey, all made with produce grown onsite.
